Sacred Yet, Holy Now

Note: I shared this story in our community practice live this week, but I decided to make it into a typed version as well.

For years I’ve talked about sacred yes and the holy no—the art of choosing, of saying yes to what feeds your soul and no to what drains it.

But this year, an unexpected typo gifted me a new pair of phrases: sacred yet and holy now.

I accidentally typed those words into our July handbook and didn’t even notice the mistake until after printing and binding my own copy. At first I was embarrassed by the typo, but then I actually kind of fell in love with the new pairing.

Sacred yet:
the waiting place, the not-yet, the unfinished project, the dream that hasn’t had enough time or space to fully unfurl.

Holy now:
this exact moment—the messy kitchen, the disoriented summer, the tired body, the scattered focus—still, somehow, holy.

We live most of our lives in the overlap between sacred yet and holy now.

We are always becoming, and we are always already here.

How are you feeling “sacred yet” and “holy now” at work in your summer days?
