Ritual Reading for Spring Equinox (A Spring Ritual of Returning)

For this moment at least
open your arms.
Set down worry and regret,
lay aside fear and confusion,
let doubt and indecision rest.
Release the need to reflect and review,
even pause the planning and possibility.
Let them all go for a spell.
Let it all soften and feel ease descend.
Step outside and close your eyes.
Feel sunshine on your eyelids
and warmth soak
into your weary places.
Feel the cool wind stir
and gather you in.
Invite yourself home.
Deepen into gentle discovery
of where you are.
Quietly,
open your eyes.
Call in what you need,
what you long for.
From the east,
collect sunshine on cedar branches.
Call in joy and renewal.
From the North,
collect oak branches and raspberry leaves.
Call in strength and patience.
From the West,
collect blue stem grasses, acorns,
and hickory leaves.
Call in clarity and peace.
From the south,
collect walnuts, sage leaves,
the sounds of spring peepers awakening.
Embrace both letting go
and re-collection.
Whisper thank you
to each direction in turn.
Kiss your fingertips
and fold your hands over your heart.
Allow yourself to return.
Gather yourself up,
restored once more to wholeness,
open to what is unfolding
and the magic of being here
to see it.
