I sense a call beyond my borders,
a summons to move outside the small and confining,
the casing that keeps me contained
by what I need to do and who I think I am.
I crack my shell,
burst through the seed,
and unfurl my wings
stretching out damp and free
under bright sun and bold desire.
Looking behind me,
I see the thin fragments
of what I thought contained me
left behind to soften back
into Earth’s transformation as I fly.
