We taste
Harvest: this instant
At the edge of green, on
the threshold of yellow,
Apple’s perfection:
Taste frost, rain, sun,

white blaze of blossom
and celebration of the bees,
taste labor of lady beetles
keeping the tree clean…

Elsa Gidlow (in Open Mind)

Please take a few moments to breathe and pause and call yourself in. Into this time and into this space. Into your body and your breath and the beat of your heart. You may wish to place one hand on your heart, one hand on your belly and center yourself in this time and in space. And, with your next breath, extend your awareness to the other people joining this circle, in their times and their places, each connected in this web we weave together with each breath…

Our ritual recording for this week is available here.

In it, I share two autumn poems from We’Moon, some detailed thoughts about the cards of week, some thoughts about walking in the hand of the Goddess, and also a guided meditation with your breath and Gaia.

Our card for the week from Womanrunes was The Seed again, rune of pregnancy, ripening, assessment. The Seed reminds us that beautiful things take root in the darkness. This is a rune of waiting and ripening and is the perfect rune to consider during a time of processing and exploration. What tender seed are you nourishing? What is getting ready to grow for you? To push up its first tender shoots of exploration and discovery?

Maybe this seems like an odd time of year to be speaking of new growth as the wheel of the year in the Northern Hemisphere moves towards autumn, but as we deepen into the shadows of the colder months of the year, I find my attention does turn to those seeds we plant and nourish in our dark spaces. I also think of a time of rest. Of incubation. Of contemplation. Of renewal. What will happen if we allow ourselves to steep in the cauldron of our own wisdom?

“There is no need to hurry or force things to happen.”

I also chose a card from the Goddess Guidance Oracle Deck and we received Oonagh…perfectly, a card for waiting and taking it easy! She reminds us that we do not to hurry or force and can instead let things unfold. How can you invite ease and trust into your days…

“Live as if you liked yourself, and it may happen: reach out, keep reaching out, keep bringing in. This is how we are going to live for a long time: not always, for every gardener knows that after the digging, after the planting, after the long season of tending and growth, the harvest comes.”

–Marge Piercy (in Open Mind)

Are you living as if you liked yourself? Are you reaching out? Are you bringing in?

May you take deep breaths this week. May you feel ease. May you make space for sacred pauses. May you take time to contemplate your seeds and what you need to incubate them. May you exercise wise discernment.

And now, dear Circle, the rattle passes to you..

What tender seed are you nourishing? What needs to wait in the darkness?
